EU: Malt export business continues at stupendous pace
Before the corona pandemic the EU malt industry was reported to be oversold. During the time of lockdowns, lower beer sales necessitated slower production and even temporary shutdowns of malthouses. No malt was produced for stock-keeping, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their August report.
The pandemic is far from over, but the economy is recovering (temporarily?), public life and with it beer consumption have come back to almost normal.
The malt export business continues at a stupendous pace. The result is again a lack of supplies. Many maltsters must reject the requests for advanced or additional deliveries, in domestic and export markets.
